Google Doodle To Celebrate Ladislao José Biro’s 117th birthday

You may not know the name Ladislao José Bíro, but you certainly know his most famous invention: the ballpoint pen.

Bíro was born in Budapest, Hungary, into a Jewish family. A journalist by trade, Bíro noticed how efficiently newspapers were printed and how quickly the ink dried – in stark contrast to his fountain pen. He worked with his brother, György Bíro, a chemist, to develop a new type of pen made up of a ball that turned in a socket. As the ball turned, it picked up ink from a cartridge and rolled to deposit it on paper, much like a newsprint roller transfers an inked image to paper.

Bíro presented the first prototype of the ballpoint pen at the Budapest International Fair in 1931, later patenting his invention in 1938. To this day, the ballpoint pen is still referred to as the “Biro” in several countries.

Today Google celebrate Bíro and his relentless, forward-thinking spirit on the 117th anniversary of his birth.

When is Google's Birthday

Google is now officially an adult. The internet giant is celebrating its 18th birthday on Tuesday with an animated Doodle shown to web browsers around the world. The company, founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998, traditionally marks its birthday on the Google homepage on September 27.

However, not even Google seems to really know when it was formed. Since 2006, it has celebrated its birthday on September 27, but the year before that, had it as September 26. In 2004, its 6th birthday Doodle went online on September 7 and in the year before that, it was September 8. (Telegraph)

As always, the size of iOS updates differs depending on your device, and iOS 10.0.2 is coming in at between 40MB and 120MB with the larger file sizes for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

There are update not for iOS 10.0.2:

- Addresses an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working.
- Resolves an issue that causes Photos to quit for some users when turning on iCloud Photo Library.

Apple Releases iOS 10.1 Beta Public With Portrait Mode

Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming iOS 10 update to public beta testers for testing purposes, just under two weeks after releasing iOS 10 to the public and one day after providing the iOS 10.1 beta to developers. Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program will receive the iOS 10 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on their iOS device.

iOS 10.1 introduces a "Portrait" mode for the iPhone 7 Plus, which was first shown off when the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus debuted on September 7. GoPro Launch New HERO5 Black: Waterproof, Video Stabilization, Voice Commands & More

GoPro just officially announced the Hero 5 Black, the company’s first flagship action camera since the Hero 4 was unveiled in 2014. The company also announced the Hero 5 Session, and update to the original Session — the small, cube-shaped camera that was released last summer. The cameras were unveiled at the launch event for the GoPro Karma drone at Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Northern California, and both are compatible with GoPro’s first quadcopter. They’ll be available October 2nd. (The Verge)

Both cameras are waterproof to 10 meters (33 feet) without a housing. GoPro's past cameras were only rugged and waterproof when in a polycarbonate housing, and dealing with them is a hassle. Presumably there will be dive housings for those who want to go deeper or need shock protection, but out of the box you can just take them out in the sand and surf.  GoPro also introduced what it calls professional-grade electronic image stabilization. It's disappointing the company wasn't able to work in optical image stabilization for the Hero5 like Sony did for its latest, but at least there's the option for EIS. I'm not sure if it comes at the cost of image quality or resolution, though. Speaking of resolution... (CNET)

New GoPro HERO5 Black Features:
- Voice control
- 2-Inch Touch Display
- Rugged + Waterproof
- Simple One-Button Control
- Advanced Video Stabilization
- Access + share from anywhere with With a GoPro Plus subscription
- Stunning 4K video and 12MP photos. In Single, Burst, and Time Lapse modes
- RAW photos provide the most flexibility when using advanced photo editing software.
- WDR photo mode captures both added detail in shadows and highlights in the scene.
- Fine-tune exposure settings with simple on-screen Exposure Control.
- Advanced audio processing captures left and right stereo audio channels.
- Captures the location where your photos and videos are taken.
- Capture life in a whole new way with 30+ GoPro mounts and accessories, including Karma™, 3-Way™, Remo and more.

Apple Introduce Wireless Headphone "AirPods"

The new wireless AirPods are the first of their kind to intelligently connect to your devices while delivering incredible sound for up to five hours on a single charge. The Apple-designed W1 chip makes it possible.

Overview:
AirPods will forever change the way you use headphones. Whenever you pull your AirPods out of the charging case, they instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac. Audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call, or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri.

Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice. Because the ultralow-power W1 chip manages battery life so well, AirPods deliver an industry-leading 5 hours of listening time on one charge. And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time. Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time.

Highlights:
- Designed by Apple
- Automatically on, automatically connected
- One-tap setup for all your Apple devices
- Quick access to Siri with a double-tap
- More than 24-hour battery life with Charging
- Case Charges quickly in the case
- Rich, high-quality audio and voice
- Seamless switching between devices

Tech Specs:
- Weight AirPods (each): 0.14 ounces (4 g)
- Dimensions AirPods (each): 0.65 by 0.71 by 1.59 inches (16.5 by 18.0 by 40.5 mm)
- Connections AirPods: Bluetooth
- AirPods with Charging Case: More than 24 hours listening time, up to 11 hours talk time
- AirPods (single charge): Up to 5 hours listening time,(2) Up to 2 hours talk time
- 15 minutes in the case equals 3 hours listening time(4) or over an hour of talk time
