Twitter Is Shutting Down The Video App "Vine"
Twitter is killing off its social media video-sharing app and platform Vine as it trims its headcount and costs. The social network said the Vine mobile app would be discontinued “in the coming months”.
Acquired by Twitter in 2012, Vine started off strong, becoming the No. 1 app on the iTunes App Store only six months after joining the company. At one point, Vine had more than 200 million active users, yet it struggled to maintain traction and saw a decline in popularity in recent months. Competition from Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube made it difficult to stand out from the pack. According to data from App Annie, Vine has since dropped to No. 284 in the top charts for free applications on iOS, down from the low 100s at the beginning of the year. It’s still fairly well-ranked (No. 24) in the Photo & Video category, but hasn’t placed on the Entertainment apps top charts since 2015. (TechCrunch)

Twitter Announces Application Process for Verified Accounts
Twitter announced today it has created an online application process for Twitter accounts to receive verified status. Verified accounts on Twitter allow people to identify key individuals and organizations on Twitter as authentic, and are denoted by a blue badge icon. An account may be verified if it is determined to be of public interest. Typically this includes accounts maintained by public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.
"We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification," said Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter's vice president of User Services. "We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience."
Twitter was the first platform to introduce account verification, starting in 2009 and currently has close to 187,000 verified accounts. The @CDCgov was one of the first Twitter accounts to be verified in order to help citizens find authentic and accurate public health information straight from the source. Among the other first accounts to be verified include @NASAArmstrong, @KimKardashian, @Oprah, @MilwaukeePolice, @SF311, and @TonyHawk.
The application process will start rolling out today and be available globally this week. People can learn more about the application process in the Twitter Help Center. You can submit a request to verify an account by filling out this form, and we’ll respond to your request via email.
Submitting a request:
To be able to complete the form, your account must have the following:
- A verified phone number
- A confirmed email address
- A bio
- A profile photo
- A header photo
- A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization accounts)
- A website
- Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings
Some common characteristics of verified accounts include:
- If the account belongs to a person, the name reflects the real or stage name of the person.
- If the account is a corporation or company account, the name reflects the real name of the corporation or company.
- The profile and/or header photo reflects the person, the corporation’s branding, or the company’s branding.
- If the account is a corporate or company account, the email address associated with the account is a corporate or company email address.

Twitter Launches GIF Search for Tweets & Direct Messages
Twitter's introduction of a search function for moving images commonly used on social media prompted users of the website on Wednesday to tweet their own pictures expressing enthusiasm over the feature.
Twitter said on Wednesday in a blog post that users could search and browse a GIF library when composing a tweet or direct message. A GIF, short for graphic interchange format, is a moving image that plays over and over again. It is often used on social media to express users' emotions.

Last year, people on Twitter shared over 100 million GIFs — expressing everything from their mood, to an amazing dunk, to their favorite dance move from a music video. Now, sharing GIFs in Tweets and Direct Messages is even easier with our new GIF search.

New Twitter for Mac 4.0.0: Support Inline GIFs & More Features
Twitter for Mac finally update new version 4.0.0 bring GIFs, inline video playback, privately message groups and other features. The app is also getting a minor visual revamp, with images and quote tweets now displaying like they do on the web. There's Likes button to replace Faves button. You can choice a new dark theme or light theme for the app.
According The Verge reports, development of the Mac app was outsourced to a third-party developer, said Jonathan Wight, a former Twitter employee, in a tweet. The Verge confirmed that the app's development was outsourced with other people familiar with the matter, one of those people said the developer is Black Pixel.

hari ini 9 tahun yang lalu tweet pertama diposting oleh salah satu pendiri twitter jack dorsey dari akun twitternya @jack pada tanggal 22 maret 2006 dan twitter resmi berdiri tanggal 21 maret 2006 di san francisco california. kicauan pertama tersebut hanya sebaris "Just setting up my twttr" dan sudah diretweet lebih dari 50ribu kali. tweet ke 2 dengan kalimat sama juga ada di akun ke 3 pendiri yang lain @biz, @noah dan @ev dan beberapa akun para programmer twitter di awal pendiriannya.
selain oleh jack dorsey, twitter didirikan bersama dengan evan williams, biz stone dan noah glass dan baru secara resmi dirilis secara umum di bulan juli 2006. sampai dengan kuartal ke 4 tahun 2014, twitter sudah memiliki 288 juta pengguna bulanan dan terus bertambah.

"mute" adalah fitur twitter dimana pengguna dapat meredam alias tidak memunculkan tweet seseorang dari timeline-nya tetapi tetap mem-follow tanpa melakukan unfollow. selain tidak akan diketahui oleh orang yang di-mute, orang yang kita follow tersebut juga tetap dapat mention maupun replies serta mengirimkan direct message. sedangkan orang yang tidak kita follow dan kita mute tidak akan dapat mengirimkan direct message maupun memunculkan mention dan replies di tab notification kita. lebih lengkap tentang "mute" bisa dibaca di sini.
"block", fitur ini dapat digunakan apabila pengguna lain tersebut terasa mengganggu, dengan memblokir pengguna lain tersebut otomatis tidak dapat mengikuti tweet kita (dalam keadaan login). akibat lain dari "block" ini pengguna tersebut tidak dapat follow kita dan sebaliknya dan tidak dapat menerima notifikasi apabila mention kita dan bahkan tidak dapat tag kita dalam sebuah foto. bedanya dengan "mute", fitur "block" akan menampilkan tulisan "blocked" apabila mengunjungi halaman profile kita. lebih lengkap tentang "block" bisa dibaca di sini.

Twitter Now Supports GIFs And Convert To MP4 Video Format
Beberapa waktu lalu Twitter menambahkan fitur baru yang memungkinkan pengguna Twitter untuk mengupload file gambar bergerak yang berformat GIF dan dapat memainkan file gambar bergerak tersebut di aplikasi Twitter for iOS, Twitter for Android dan Twitter Web Version.
Gambar bergerak berformat GIF tersebut dapat dimainkan dengan meng-klik tombol "Play" di Tweet yang disertai attachment file tersebut atau langsung membuka tweet tersebut secara individual. Yang menarik dari fitur ini adalah apabila pengguna lain ingin menyimpan file format GIF tersebut akan langsung dikonversi ke format video MP4.

New Twitter for iOS & Android With Embed Tweets Inside Tweets
Tanda-tanda akan dihapuskannya fitur Retweet di aplikasi Twitter sudah terasa di aplikasi terbaru Twitter for iOS dan Twitter fo Android. Selain tambahan fitur The World Cup Timeline pengguna aplikasi Twitter sekarang bisa menyematkan (embed) tweets lain ke dalam tweet-nya yang mirip dengan Retweet saat ini.
Untuk mencoba fitur tersebut adalah dengan tweet yang akan di-embed, kemudian tap ikon "..." dan pilih "Copy link to Tweet". Setelah dicopy, link tersebut tinggal di -paste ke kotak penulisan tweet baru atau "Compose" dan bisa ditambahkan kata-kata lain apabila perlu karena tidak mengurangi kuota 140 karakter. hasil yang tampil di aplikasi mobile (iOS dan Android) lebih rapi tanpa tambahan RT meskipun di versi web belum mendukung fitur tersebut atau masih tampil dalam bentuk link. Sedangkan di versi aplikasi iOS dan Android untuk menampilak secara utuh harus dibuka terlebih dahulu tweet tersebut.
Saat ini fitur "embed tweets inside tweets" hanya tersedia di aplikasi Twitter for iOS dan Twitter for Android saja dan belum tersedia di Twitter versi web atau versi mobile, Silahkan download aplikasi tersebut di Google Play Store atau App Store.

Twitter Rolling Out a New Font on Web Version
Sudah beberapa hari ini Twitter tampil dengan huruf atau font baru di versi web dengan ukuran yang terlihat lebih besar. Font sebelumnya Twitter vesri web twitter.com menggunakan tipe "Helvetica Neue" dan berubah mulai tanggal 31 Mei menjadi font "Gotham".
Twitter melalui akun Twitter Support mengumumkan secara resmi:

Now Available On Twitter Web Version: Multi Photo Upload & Photo Tagging Features
Setelah merilis 2 fitur baru "Photo Tagging" dan "Multi Photo Upload" beberapa waktu lalu buat pengguna Twitter for iOS, sekarang kedua fitur tersebut bisa dicoba di versi Twitter Web selain pengguna iPhone, iPad dan iPod Touch.
Fitur "Photo Tagging" memungkinkan pengguna untuk melalukan "tag" temen lain dalam foto yang di-tweet, maksimal bisa men-tag 10 orang teman. Sedangkan fitur "Multi Photo Upload" memungkinkan penggun auntuk mengunggah 4 buah foto sekaligus dalam 1 tweet.
Untuk mencoba fitur tersebut seperti biasa kalau akan memposting tweet, setelah attach foto akan ada pilihan untuk "Who's in this photo?" dan pilihan "Add More" untuk menambahkan foto yang lain.

Twitter Experiments With a New Hashtags Video-Sharing Feature
Twitter akhir-akhir ini rajin sekali melakukan uji coba dan merilis fitur baru termasuk salah satunya halaman profil baru. Saat ini Twitter sedang melakukan uji coba fitur video-sharing menggunakan hashtag tertentu.
Fitur baru video-sharing tersebut akan menambah fungsi Twitter di sosial media sebagai media untuk berbagi dan menonton video secara mudah lewat Twitter. Kemampuan video-sharing tersebut saat ini bisa dicoba di aplikasi Twitter for iOS untuk pengguna iPhone, iPad dan iPod Touch.
Untuk mencoba fitur tersebut bisa mengetikkan hashtag #amillionwaystodieinthewest atau #amillionways dan Twitter akan memberikan rekomendasi video komedi "A Million Ways to Die in the West". Dari rekomendasi tersebut dapat ditambahkan komentar dan dikirimkan sebagai tweet.

Mandatory Tweetbot Update for iOS v2.8 and v3.2
Pengembang layanan Twitter client Tweetbot 2 dan 3 merilis pengumuman resmi di blog-nya kepada para pengguna Tweetbot for iOS untuk segera melakukan update dikarenakan karena adanya masalah stop functional yang dikarenakan terputusnya komunikasi dengan Twitter API.
Selain memiliki layanan Twitter client for iOS, Tapbots juga memiliki layanan serupa untuk Mac yakni Tweetbot for Mac. Bagi pengguna Tweetbot 2 for iOS bisa update melalui App Store ke versi 2.8.8 sedangkan pengguna Tweetbot 3 for iOS bisa update melalui App Store ke versi 3.3.2. Setelah melakukan update harus terlebih dahulu login kembali.
A couple weeks ago Twitter’s Platform Operations group contacted us and asked us to make a small change to the way Tweetbot communicates with the Twitter API. This change will have no affect on the way Tweetbot works, however two things will occur once this change goes live. All versions of Tweetbot prior to 2.8.8 or 3.2.2 will stop working and you may need to log into your account again. So make sure you are running the latest versions of the app and be prepared to authenticate your account once more. We will be coordinating with Twitter to make the final change on May 29th at 10 A.M. PST. Stay up to date via our @tweetbot account. Thanks for your continued support!

Twitter Updates iPad App with New Features
Selain merilis secara resmi fitur "Mute Users", Twitter juga merilis versi baru Twitter for iOS 6.5 dengan update dan minor improvements. Sedangkan bagi perangkat iPad ada tambahan fitur yang memudahkan untuk memilih "Top" dan "All" tweets saat melakukan pencarian.
Berikut beberapa fitut tambahan bagi pengguna iPad secara lengkap:
• Choose between “Top” and “All” Tweets in search results.
• Tweets with Twitter photos, Vine videos and other select content now show a preview in your home timeline
• You can reply, retweet, favorite or follow someone straight from a Tweet in your home timeline.
• Easier access to DMs.

Twitter Officially Launches "Mute Users" Feature for iOS, Android and Web
Twitter hari ini secara resmi merilis fitur baru "Mute Users" setelah beberapa waktu lalu diuji coba pada beberapa user tertentu. Fitur "Mute Users" memungkinkan pengguna Twitter untuk menyembunyikan tweet pengguna tertentu dari timeline-nya tanpa melakukan un-following.
Fitur "Mute Users" tersedia bagi pengguna Twitter for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), Twitter for Andrpid dan Twitter Web http://twitter.com. Untuk mengaktifkan fitur "Mute User" dengan cara klik tombol "Setting" atau "gear icon" dan pilih "Mute @username) sedangkan untuk menonaktifkan fitur tersebut bisa kembali menekan tombol "Setting" tersebut.
Dengan melakukan "mute" tweet teman berarti setiap tweet dan retweet tidak akan terlihat di timeline kita termasuk tidak akan menerima notifikasi lewat SMS apabila diaktifkan. Sebaliknya teman yang kita "mute" masih tetap melihat tweet kita termasuk melakukan reply dan retweet dari tweet kita. Satu lagi, teman yang kita "mute" juga tidak akan tau kalau kita "mute" dan kapanpun kita bisa melakukan "unmute" dengan mudah.

Some things to know about muting:
- Muted users can follow you and interact with your content.
- You can follow a user you’ve muted. Muting a user will not cause you to unfollow them.
- @ replies and @ mentions from muted users you follow will still appear in your Notifications tab.
- Muted users you follow can still send you a direct message.
- When you mute a user, their previous Tweets will still be displayed; only Tweets from the point you muted them will be hidden.
Muting from a Tweet:
- From a Tweet, click More at the bottom of the Tweet.
- Click Mute.
Muting from a profile:
- Go to the profile page of the person you wish to mute.
- Click the gear icon on their profile page. This brings up a drop-down actions menu.
- Select Mute from the options listed.
Once you’ve muted a user on the web, you will see a confirmation banner. If you made a mistake, you can click Undo to unmute a user right away.
To mute a Twitter user on iOS:

- Tap the ••• icon.
- Tap Mute and Yes, I’m sure to confirm.

- Visit the profile page of the user you wish to mute.

New Twitter for BlackBerry 10 with Draft Tweet Support, Swipeable Timeline & More
Anda pengguna BlackBerry 10 dan aktif di Twitter? Saatnya untuk melakukan update aplikasi terbaru Twitter for BlackBerry 10 versi 10.3.0.240 melalui BlackBerry World dengan banyak tambahan fitur dan perbaikan.
Fitur pertama yang ditambahkan di versi BlackBerry 10 ini adalah "Draft Tweet Support" yang dapat digunakan untuk membuat draft tweet sebelum diposting, selanjutnya "Swipeable Timeline", salah satu fitur yang sama di versi iOS dan Android yang memungkinkan pengguna Twitter beralih dari menu "Activity" dan "Discover" secara cepat dengan cara swipe.
Untuk masalah foto, versi terbaru ini sudah dapat mengirimkan foto melalui "Direct Message" kemudian dapat mengaktifkan atau menonaktifkan "in-line images" di timeline. Masih belum puas dengan hasil foto yang akan diposting atau dikirimkan? sekarang tersedia pilihan "retake picture" untuk mengambil ulang gambar secara langsung. Twitter for BlackBerry 10 versi terbaru ini juga memperhatikan privacy dengan adanya fitur "Age gating".

Twitter's New Web Profile Rolling Out to All Users Around the World
Fitur-fitur barunya sudah diposting di sini antara lain Best Tweets, Pinned Tweet dan Filtered Tweets:
- Best Tweets: tweet yang memiliki interaksi ("Reply", "Favorite", "Retweet" atau "Mention") lebih banyak akan tampil lebih besar dibanding tweet yang lain.
- Pinned Tweet: fitur baru yang memungkinkan kita melakukan "Pinned" salah satu tweet agar selalu tampil di bagian teratas, ini mirip yang ada di Facebook Page.
- Filtered Tweets: Sekarang kita bisa melihat timeline Twitter orang lain berdasarkan pilihan hanya Tweets saja atau Tweet dengan Foto/ Video atau hanya Tweets dan Reply saja.
