Twitter for iPhone: Twitter Aquired Tweetie

Anda salah satu pengguna Twitter yang selalu akses via iPhone atau Mac? berita gembira hari ini Twitter mengakuisisi Atebits (aka Loren Brichter) salah satu pengembang layanan Tweetie yang merupakan Twitter client ternama yang biasa di gunakan di iPhone dan Mac.

Saat ini Tweetie biasa diadapatkan di iTunes AppStore seharga US$2,99 dan dengan diakusisi oleh Twitter ini, Tweetie akan berganti nama menjadi Twitter For iPhone yang bersifat gratis alias tak berbayar lagi. Tweetie ini pernah memenangkan Apple Design Award di tahun 2009 dan dengan masuknya Twitter ini pastinya akan membuat layanan Tweetie juga diakses melalui gadget baru Apple yakni iPad.

Seperti kita ketahui pengguna Twitter meningkat tajam dan yang paling besar adalah pengguna Twitter yang mengakses menggunakan perangkat mobile. Banyak sudah tersedia aplikasi pihak ketiga untuk perangkat mobile selain Tweetie di iPhone, beberapa waktu yang lalu bahkan pihak RIM (selaku pemilik layanan BlackBerry) bahkan merilis Twitter for BlackBerry yang saat ini malah sudah tersedia di BlackBerry App.World. Belum termasuk aplikasi Twitter client lain buat pengguna Symbian, Android atau Windows Mobile.

BlackBerry Messenger & Hoax

Salah satu yang menjengkelkan di BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) mungkin adalah Broadcast Message yang isinya gak penting atau hanya sebagai sarana spamming atau bahkan tenpet penyebaran hoax alias berita bohong. Terus terang saat ini BBM buat saya hanya digunakan untuk komunikasi dengan kontak apabila diperlukan saja terutama lebih pribadi, sepertinya jarang sekali kontak BBM mengirim Broadcast Message yang berisi humor-humor atau jokes dari hasil forward-an BBM lain, ada juga sih kontak yang memang sengaja saya add buat menerima broadcast yang memang saya inginkan.

Sifat dari BBM yang selalu online apabila perangkat BlackBerry dinyalakan juga menjadi faktor efektif penyebaran spam atau hoax, berbeda dengan instant messenger lain seperti Yahoo!Messenger yang belum tentu selalu online serta fasilitas fordward Broadcast Message yang memudahkan penyebarannya.

Mungkin dari beberapa rekan pemilik BlackBerry terutama di Indonesia, beberapa waktu yang lalu menerima pesan BBM tentang RIM/ BlackBerry yang mencabut layanan dari Indonesia (kalo yang ini jelas hoax banget alias bohong besar wong pengguna BlackBerry di Indonesia aja meningkat tajam kok...) trus yang barusan diterima tentang pesan yang seolah-olah berasal dari RIM/ Research In Motion (pemilik BlackBerry) yang mengatakan kalo server RIM overload dan seperti biasa menyarankan untuk meneruskan ke yang lain apabila masih dianggap aktif. Kalo message yang terakhir ini dijamin pasti hoax apalagi RIM/ BlackBerry melalui Twitter dan Facebook Page langsung menanggapinya sebagai Spam alias Hoax dan disarankan untuk tidak mem-broadcast lagi ke kontak BBM.

Yang menarik dari hoax BBM ini adalah menjadi Trending Topic di Twitter bersanding dengan isu iPhone OS 4 untuk topik "#teamblackberry", "RIM" dan "BBM" karena selain menyebar dari BBM ke BBM (bukan dari mulut ke mulut) juga menyebar seperti virus di Twitter termasuk tweet yang menjelaskan kalo message tersebut hoax. Itulah kekuatan baru penyebaran informasi!

Berikut isi lengkap Hoax-nya:
"Hello, greetings from RIM (Research In Motion) proprietors of BlackBerry. This message is to inform all of our users, that our servers have recently been really full, so we are asking for your help to fix this problem. We need our active users to re-send this message to everyone on your contact list inorder to confirm our active users that use BlackBerry Messenger, if you do not send this message to all your BlackBerry Messenger contacts then your account will remain inactive with the consequence of losing all your contacts. We apologize for the inconvenience but this is the only way possible to resolve this problem. Sincerely Research in Motion. For more information visit: www.blackberry.com/inactiveuser"

Sedangkan penjelasan RIM/ BlackBerry adalah:
"We are seeing reports that people have received an email claiming to be from RIM and encouraging them to broadcast a message over BBM (BlackBerry Messenger). This message isn't from RIM. Please don't broadcast the message to your BBM contacts. We are on the case. Sorry for the inconvenience."
