Top 10 Gadgets of 2017 by TIME Magazine

Innovation in technology is growing rapidly with the release of some of the latest gadgets by the big brands like Apple, Microsoft and Samsung. TIME magazine at the end of 2017 released a list of the Top 10 Gadgets of 2017 containing the best technology products from several brands and very interesting for the best gadgets is Nintendo Switch from Nintendo.


Here’s a look at TIME’s top 10 gadgets of 2017:

1. NINTENDO SWITCH

The Nintendo Switch[b] is the seventh major video game console developed by Nintendo. Known in development by its codename NX, it was unveiled in October 2016 and was released worldwide on March 3, 2017. Nintendo considers the Switch a "hybrid" console; it is designed primarily as a home console, with the main unit inserted onto a docking station to connect to a television. Alternatively, it can be removed from the dock and used similarly to a tablet computer through its LCD touchscreen, or placed in a standalone tabletop mode visible to several players.

iPhone X is a smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. It was announced on September 12, 2017, alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus. The phone was released on November 3, 2017. This iPhone marks the device's tenth anniversary, with "X" being the symbol for "ten" in Roman numerals. Within Apple's lineup, the iPhone X is positioned as a high-end, premium model with what Apple is presenting as technology of the future. It features wireless charging, an OLED display, dual-lens cameras with improved depth sensing, and a facial recognition system called Face ID. Much of its internal hardware is shared with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.


3. MICROSOFT SURFACE LAPTOP

Microsoft Surface is a series of touchscreen Windows personal computers and interactive whiteboards designed and developed by Microsoft. The devices are manufactured by Pegatron and are designed to be premium devices that set examples to Windows OEMs. It comprises four generations of hybrid tablets, 2-in-1 detachable notebooks, a convertible desktop all-in-one, an interactive whiteboard, and various accessories all with unique form factors. With the exception of the first-generation Surface and Surface 2, all Surface PCs use Intel processors and are compatible with Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system.

DJI’s palm-sized drone is a big step in the direction of making drones easier and more convenient for the average person. The Spark’s standout feature is that it doesn’t require a remote control for navigation. Just tap the button on the back of the drone twice, and it will prepare to take off from the palm of your hand. You can also pilot the Spark with your hand, prompting it to fly higher, lower, or in a certain direction with a wave of your arm. Of course, these features work best under optimal conditions, and the Spark doesn’t always operate flawlessly, but its size and simplicity are a feat in their own right.


5. SAMSUNG GALAXY S8

The Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung Galaxy S8+ (shortened to S8 and S8+, respectively) and Samsung Galaxy S8 Active are Android smartphones produced by Samsung Electronics as part of the Samsung Galaxy S series. The S8 and S8+ contain upgraded hardware and major design changes over their predecessors, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, including larger screens with a taller aspect ratio and curved sides on both the smaller and larger models, iris and face recognition, a new suite of virtual assistant features known as Bixby (along with a new dedicated physical button for launching the assistant), and a docking station accessory that allows the phones to be used with a personal computer-styled desktop interface with keyboard and mouse input support.

6. SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM (SNES) CLASSIC

Nintendo’s iconic grey-and-purple Super Nintendo gaming machine made a huge comeback in 2017. The SNES Classic comes loaded with 21 retro titles, including Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, and a previously unreleased Star Fox game. Everything from the games themselves to the way the controllers feel in your hands are exactly as you would remember from the 1990s. Catering to players’ nostalgia has seemingly paid off: the SNES Classic was the second best-selling video game console during the month of October, according to research firm NPD, and it’s been nearly impossible to find since its September launch.


7. AMAZON ECHO (2nd GENERATION)

Amazon Echo (shortened and referred to as Echo) is a brand of smart speakers developed by Amazon.com. The devices connect to the voice-controlled intelligent personal assistant service Alexa, which responds to the name "Alexa". This "wake word" can be changed by the user to "Amazon", "Echo" or "Computer". The device is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic and other real-time information. It can also control several smart devices using itself as a home automation hub.

8. XBOX ONE X

The Xbox One X is the most powerful games console on the market today. It represents a major performance boost over the Xbox One S and is geared towards people who want to see their games at the best quality possible on a console. 4K is the name of the game, and this machine does a sterling job of serving up games at the fabled 3840 x 2160-pixel resolution.


9. APPLE WATCH 3

The Apple Watch Series 3 is the third-generation model of the Apple Watch, introduced on September 12, 2017, and was released alongside the iPhone 8 on September 22, 2017. The main new feature of this generation is the built-in LTE cellular connectivity and offers both voice and data communication, including out-of-the-box Apple Music streaming. Antenna functionality (receiving and transmitting elements for LTE and UMTS) is part of the display and the watch features an electronic SIM (eSIM), 1% the size of a standard SIM card, and shares the same mobile number as the user's iPhone.

10. SONY ALPHA A7R III

The Sony α7R III (model ILCE-7RM3)[1] was announced by Sony on 25 October 2017. Sony A7R III aka Sony Alpha 7R III is a full frame mirror-less camera. The Sony A7R III is a successor to the A7R II that was launched in 2015. The sensor used in the Sony A7R III is a 42.2MP BSI CMOS sensor with front-end LST.

Nokia X2 Will Dual-boot Windows Phone & Android And Have Google Play Services

Setelah tersebar bocoran benchmark di AnTuTu, perangkat terbaru penerus generasi Nokia X yang disebut-sebut sebagai Nokia X2 dikabarkan akan didukung dengan fitur dual boot menggunakan android dan windows phone milik induknya Microsoft. Bahkan tersiar akan didukung juga dengan Google Play Service tidak seperti pendahulunya Nokia X, Nokia XL dan Nokia X+.

Dari benchmark yang beredar meneyebutkan kalau Nokia X2 akan mengusung prosesor Qualcomm Snapdragon 200, 1.2 GHz, RAM 1 GB, memori internal 4 GB, layar 4.3 inchi WVGA dan kamera 5 MP. Yang jelas spesifikasi tersebut di atas generasi Nokia X sebelumnya.

Nokia X meupakan salah satu smartphone pertama android dari Nokia yang laris manis peredarannya meskipun saat ini Nokia sudah berada di bawah kendali Microsoft yang juga memiliki OS sendiri Windows Phone.

Aplikasi Skype tersebut bisa didownload secara gratis di halaman http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype dan saat ini fitur yang tersedia adalah chatting, voice call dan video calls.

Versi baru Skype for Windows Phone 8,1 ini nantinya akan terintegrasi dengan layanan Cortana, sebuah layanan personal assistent yang dikembangkan oleh Microsoft untuk perangkat Windows Phone 8.1 dan fitur Cortana ini serupa dengan Siri - personal assistant milik Apple. And new on Windows 8.1…
As part of Build, we also announced improvements to make your Windows 8.1 experience more accessible and familiar. Skype for Windows Modern is built for touch devices, but we know that many users use 2-in-1 devices and often work in the desktop mode, switching between modern and desktop apps. We wanted to make that easier. So now your built-in Skype app can be pinned to the taskbar and accessible either on your start screen or on the desktop. The Windows 8.1 update is free to Windows 8 and Windows RT users, and the latest version of Skype will come with it. To pin Skype to the taskbar, hold down or right click on the Skype tile and select Pin to Taskbar.

We will continue to deliver the best experience possible by providing regular updates to Skype over time. We received valuable feedback since the launch of both Skype for Windows Phone 8 and Skype for Windows 8.1 and we will continue to listen as we launch future versions.

Nokia Lumia 930 Expected Release on Microsoft BUILD 2014 Developer Conference

Nokia selain akan merilis ponsel seri baru keluarga Lumia tipe 630 juga akan merilis Lumia 930 sebagai penerus Lumia 920 di ajang Microsoft Build Developer Conference BUILD 2014 tanggal 2-4 April 2014 di San Francisco. Lumia 930 (aka Martin) sebagai ponsel Lumia kalangan menengah atas memang belum ada bocoran spesifikasi yang pasti dibanding saudaranya Lumia 630 (aka Moneypenny) seperti postingan di sini.

Situs GSM Arena merilis spesifikasi (Unofficial preliminary specifications) yang menyebutkan Lumia 930 juga menggunakan OS Windows Phone 8.1 dan kamera 20 MP. Untuk layar display diperkirakan berukuran 5 inchi dan menggunakan Amoled capacitive touchscreen 16M colors.

Untuk internal memori diperkirakan juga menggunakan Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. 2 GB RAM dengan memori internal 32 GB.

Qik Video Straming Service Retiring In April 2014

Masih ingat dengan layanan video streaming "Qik" di tahun 2011 lalu? atau anda sebagai salah satu yang rajin live streaming menggunakan aplikasi "Qik" saat mengikuti suatu event? Yes... layanan "Qik" bakal berakhir di tanggal 30 April 2014 ini. Pengumuman resmi dari pihak "Qik" sudah dipublish di Qik Support dengan tulisan huruf besar kapital "IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ".

Kalo melihat kembali ke tahun 2011, saat itu layanan Qik diakuisisi Skype dengan harga lumayan tinggi $150 Million dengan jumlah user sebanyak 5 juta pengguna serta tujuan akuisisi buat memperkuat layanan video calls Skype. Tetapi di tahun 2014 ini "Qik" harus dimatikan pemiliknya yang notabene juga keluarga dari Microsoft. Teknologi "Qik" akan diintegrasikan ke Skype yang menghadirkan audio dan video calling, instant messaging serta video messaging.

Dengan dimatikannya layanan video streaming "Qik" ini maka pengguna layanan mobile tidak bisa lagi menggunakannya dan halaman download di App Store juga dihapus. Link download maupun embedded video "Qik" ssudah tidak aktif lagi. Silahkan bagi yang memiliki kenangan dengan video live streaming yang diposting di "Qik" segera didownload sebelum tidak bisa diakses lagi.

Siapa yang gak kenal Bill Gates dengan Microsoft-nya? kali ini Bill Gates kembali mengguncang dunia perTwitteran dengan account baru di Twitter. Baru dibuat sekitar 8 jam langsung melesat tajam jumlah followernya sebanyak 100 ribu orang bahkan saat tulisan ini dibuat sudah sebanyak 244.796 follower yang mengikuti tweet Bill Gates ini, yang pasti kata kunci Bill Gates juga melesat sebagai Trending Topic Today di Twitter.

Jumlah tweets sejak dirilis kemarin memang baru 8 buah, itupun 4 buah merupakan ReTweet dari @TIME, @aplusk dan @RyanSeacrest sedangkan yang diikuti tweetnya cuma sebanyak 40 orang saja termasuk @BarrackObama. Yang merik dari Verified Account Bill Gates ini adalah menjadikan tempat mengumumkan website baru Bill Gates yang berisi semua kegiatannya termasuk pemikiran-pemikirannya. Websitenya dapat diakses melalui www.thegatesnotes.com maupun www.gatesnotes.com. Di web terbaru ini juga memuat kegiatan amal Bill Gates bersaman istrinya dalam Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
