Google Launching Gmail Shelfie, Free Your Selfies



Sudah membuka halaman Gmail hari ini? dalam rangka April Mop Google juga buat kejutan bagi pengguna layanan email Gmail. Google memperkenalkan "Gmail Shelfie", kali ini "Shelfie" berarti "the SHareable sELFIE" dan masih berhubungan dengan "Selfie" alias foto narsis diri sendiri. Selain dalam rangka April Mop atau April Fools, hari ini tepat 1 April Gmail berulang tahun ke 10 yang memberikan gift bagi pengguna dalam bentuk fitur "Shelfie".

Fitur "Gmail Shelfie" ini masih berhubungan dengan fitur Gmail "Custom Themes" yang sudah dirilis sejak tahun 2012, pengguna dapat membuat background halaman email kita menggunakan gambar atau wallpaper yang kita inginkan. Google+ Launch Views Counter Of Your Profile and Page



Mulai hari ini Google merilirs fitur baru buat pengguna Google+ (profile maupun page) yang memungkinkan pengguna lain melihat jumlah page view halaman kita termasuk melihat halaman profil, foto dan video. Selama ini yang tampil di halaman profil hanya jumlah circle atau followers saja.

Untuk mengatur privacy termasuk jumlah "Page View" tersebut bisa ke halaman "Settinghttps://plus.google.com/settings dan di bagian bawah ada pengaturan "Profile" dan aktifkan atau non aktifkan "Show how many times your profile and content have been viewed." Saat ini pengaturan baru bisa di versi web dan belum bisa diatur dari aplikasi iOS maupun Android.

Salah satu kejutan bulan April dari Google+ adalah adanya layanan Auto Awesome Photobombs dengan tampilnya aktor David Hasselhoff di foto yang kita upload. Fitur Google+ Auto Awesome sebelumnya sudah ada sebelumnya dengan adanya foto yang kita upload dan akan dibuatkan secara otomatis oleh Google+ dalam bentuk gambar animasi GIF.

New Google Feature: Customize And Switch Between Google Products



Google merilis fitur baru yang akan memudahkan pengguna layanan Google untuk me-manage produk-produk Google yang diikuti, menu yang berisi produk Google ini berada di layar kanan atas di samping menu notification. Fitur baru tersebut mulai dari berpindah antara produk/ layanan (Switch between products) dan customize menu bar yang berisi produk Google sehingga dapat diatur posisi produk dengan cara drag and drop.

Berikut tips tentang fitur baru layanan Google yang diambil "Support Google":

Switch between products 
To switch between Google products, click the App launcher icon and select the one you’d like to use. If you don’t see what you want in the menu, click More at the bottom of the menu to see additional Google products.


Customize your menu 
You can customize the App launcher to show your favorite products at the top. To put the products in the order in which you'd like them to appear, simply drag and drop them within the menu. If you’d like to add one you don’t see in the list, click More at the bottom of the menu to show additional Google products you can then drag to the top. 

You can also add Google products you use that don’t appear in the “More” section. Just go to the product you’d like to add and open the App launcher, and you’ll see a prompt to add it as an app.



Sign out, switch accounts, or manage account settings 
To sign out of your account, switch accounts, or manage your account settings, click your picture on the upper right hand side. If you see your email address at the top instead of a photo, click that. Note that signing out of your account from the Google bar means you’ll be signed out for all Google products. For example, if you signed out of Gmail, you’ll also be signed out of Calendar and Maps.



Search from the Google bar 
For some services like Gmail, the Google bar will include a search box you can use to search within that service. For example, in Gmail you can use this search box to find a specific email. 

Share to Google+ from the Google bar 
If you use Google+, you can easily share things with your circles by clicking Share from the Google bar. The icons at the bottom of the box can be used to add photos, videos, links, or events to your post.

Badge Foursquare terbaru hanya terbit di Istambul Turki mulai dari badge Time Out Istambul, Voguette dan NTV Spor sedangkan badge Foursquare non partnership sudah ditinggalkan mulai dari badge New Year 2014 sampai badge-badge event sebagai contoh SXSW 2014 yang merupakan event bersejarah bagi Foursquare karena di tahun 2009 Foursquare mulai diperkenalkan dan sampai dengan SXSW tahun 2013 masih mengeluarkan puluhan badge-badge spesial SXSW.

Foursquare setelah mendapat pendanaan dari Microsoft memiliki kewajiban berkontribusi bagi platform lokasi untuk search engine milik Microsoft yaitu Bing serta mensupport platform lokasi untuk Windows 8 dan Windows Phone.

Kembali ke event Foursquare Day, untuk tahun 2014 ini belum tentu ada badge Foursquare Day atau 4sqDay seperti badge 4sqDay 2010, 4sqDay 2011, 4sqDay 2012 dan 4sqDay 2013 tetapi bagi yang tetap mau memiliki koleksi kaos bertema Foursquare Day 2014 silahkan menunggu postingan berikutnya lewat blog ini atau melalui Twitter @PC_holic dan @tamtomo2.

LinkedIn Updates Terms Of Service (Privacy Policy and User Agreement)



On March 26, 2014, the professional network "LinkedIn" published revised versions of their Privacy Policy and our User Agreement. If you're want to continued use LinkedIn service means you agree to these revised documents. LinkedIn posted the announcement on their blog on March 14 but the new LinkedIn’s Terms of Service effective as of March 26, 2014.

LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network with 250 million members in over 200 countries and territories around the globe. LinkedIn is publicly held and has a diversified business model with revenues coming from member subscriptions, advertising sales, and talent solutions.

Here are some other changes you’ll see in new LinkedIn's Terms of Service:

Updates to Our Privacy Policy

Member data. We’ve always had a high bar when it comes to responding to government requests for member data and that hasn’t changed. In Section 2.14, we clarify that we will take steps to let members know about demands for their data unless we’re legally prohibited from doing so or the request is deemed an emergency. We also specify that we may dispute such demands if we believe they are too broad, too vague, or lack proper authority.

Premium services. While it is not new that LinkedIn offers premium services that give our customers access to members’ profiles to generate career and business opportunities, we’ve rewritten Section 2.12 to clarify that our corporate offerings include Talent Solutions, Marketing Solutions and Sales Solutions.

Mobile numbers. As LinkedIn expands our services globally, we recognize that the mobile phone has become a ubiquitous communications tool. We’ve updated Section 1.2 to include the forthcoming option to use your mobile number to sign in to LinkedIn.

Update to Our User Agreement

Content Availability. LinkedIn has always operated within the laws and frameworks of the countries in which we operate. We recently launched a LinkedIn site in Simplified Chinese, and as we said at the time of our launch, we may be required by local regulations to remove certain content, which means this content may not be available on LinkedIn in China. While LinkedIn has always reserved the right to remove content (e.g. when it’s hurtful or infringing on others’ rights), we believe it’s important to be transparent that sometimes laws may require us to remove certain content, and we make that clear in Section 4.1.

Twitter Release New Features "Multi Photo Upload" And "Photo Tagging"



Selain merilis kerjasama dengan BillBoard, Twitter juga merilis 2 fitur utama yang ada di aplikasi mobile Twitter for iOS (iPad, iPhone dan iPod Touch) serta Twitter for Android yaitu fitur "friends photo tagging" dan fitur "photo share up to 4 photos in single tweet".

Aplikasi Twitter for iOS terbaru versi 6.3 bisa diunduh langsung dari Apple's App Store, sedangkan Twitter for Android versi terbaru juga bisa diunduh langsung di Google Play Store. Kedua versi terbaru tersebut mencantumkan change log "This update includes enhancements to sharing and uploading photos." Fitur-fitur baru tersebut akan tampil juga apabila tweet tersebut kita embed ke situs atau blog.

Tag up to 10 people in a photo
Fitur ini memungkinkan kita menyertakan akun Twitter teman kita dengan men-tag sampai 10 orang dalam 1 tweet dan tag ini tidak mempengaruhi jumlah karakter dalam 1 tweet alias tetap 140 karakter dan tidak berkurang.

Dengan fitur tagging ini Twitter tidak melupakan masalah privacy, sebagai pengguna kita berhak untuk mengatur apakah kita boleh di tag oleh orang lain (everyone), di tag oleh teman yang kita follow atau bahkan tidak boleh di tag sama sekali oleh siapapun.  Untuk mengatur settingan ini kita bisa langsung buka halaman https://twitter.com/settings/security



Share up to 4 photos in a single Tweet
Fitur ini memungkinkan kita meng-upload foto ke twitter dengan lebih dari satu foto, maksimal kita dapat meng-upload sampai 4 foto dalam 1 tweet. Foto-foto tersebut akan tampil di tweet dalam bentuk kolase foto dan bisa dilihat secara penuh dengan dengan cara menggeser (slide) preview foto kolase tersebut. Berikut Cara Tagging dan Upload Foto di Twitter:
- Klik menu "Compose New Tweet"
- Klik "Add photo", pilih foto yang akan diupload (maksimal 4 foto dalam 1 tweet)
- Edit foto dengan cara crop atau menggunakan filter
- Klik "Who's in this photo?" untuk men-tag teman dengan menulis username-nya
- Klik "Done"

Twitter tanggal 27 Maret lalu bersama BillBoard mengumumkan kerjasamanya merilis 'Billboard Twitter Real-Time Charts' yang diambilkan dari data percakapan tentang musik atau tweet pengguna Twitter di seluruh dunia.  Partnership ini akan menghidupkan kembali #TwitterMusic meskipun bukan dalam bentuk aplikasi mobile yang akan dimatikan oleh Twitter.

Facebook Aqcuire Oculus Virtual Reality Company $2 Billion



Facebook today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Oculus VR, Inc., the leader in immersive virtual reality technology, for a total of approximately $2 billion. This includes $400 million in cash and 23.1 million shares of Facebook common stock (valued at $1.6 billion based on the average closing price of the 20 trading days preceding March 21, 2014 of $69.35 per share).  The agreement also provides for an additional $300 million earn-out in cash and stock based on the achievement of certain milestones.

Oculus is the leader in immersive virtual reality technology and has already built strong interest among developers, having received more than 75,000 orders for development kits for the company's virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift. While the applications for virtual reality technology beyond gaming are in their nascent stages, several industries are already experimenting with the technology, and Facebook plans to extend Oculus' existing advantage in gaming to new verticals, including communications, media and entertainment, education and other areas.  Given these broad potential applications, virtual reality technology is a strong candidate to emerge as the next social and communications platform.

"Mobile is the platform of today, and now we're also getting ready for the platforms of tomorrow," said Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. "Oculus has the chance to create the most social platform ever, and change the way we work, play and communicate."

"We are excited to work with Mark and the Facebook team to deliver the very best virtual reality platform in the world," said Brendan Iribe, co-founder and CEO of Oculus VR. "We believe virtual reality will be heavily defined by social experiences that connect people in magical, new ways. It is a transformative and disruptive technology, that enables the world to experience the impossible, and it's only just the beginning."

Oculus will maintain its headquarters in Irvine, CA, and will continue development of the Oculus Rift, its ground-breaking virtual reality platform.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2014.

Instagram Celebrate 200 Million Instagrammers Milestone



Instagram hari ini merayakan pecahnya rekor jumlah user sebanyak 200 Juta dan bertambahnya 100 Juta Istagrammers sejak diakuisi Facebook pada April 2012 lalu yang hanya memiliki user sebanyak 100 Juta. Pertumbuhan pengguna Instagram meningkat sebanyak 23 % dan lebih tinggi dibanding pertumbuhan Facebook yang hanya sebesar 3 %, bulan April 2012 lalu Facebook mengakuisisi Instagram dengan nilai US$1 billion.

50 juta pengguna baru Instagram sejak 6 bulan lalu seperti dikutip dari postingan blog Instagram yang juga mengungkapkan bahwa saat ini sudah 20 Miliar foto yang diupload melalui Instagram yang saat ini sudah tersedia di platform iOS, Android dan Windows Phone (Beta). Saat ini untuk BlackBerry belum tersedia aplikasi resminya meskipun aplikasi Third Party sudah ada di BlackBerry 10.

Nokia X Sold Out in China Within 4 Minutes



Smartphone Android pertama dari Nokia ludes terjual dalam waktu 4 menit setelah pembukaan pemesanan online pada sebuah website e-commerce di China JD.com. Nokia X yang ditawarkan pada hari Senin 24 Maret 2014 mulai jam 10 pagi hari habis dan pembeli harus menunggu lagi sampai tanggal 31 Maret jam 12 seperti yang tercantum di situs tersebut.

Nokia selain di China sudah diluncurkan di India dan Malaysia dengan harga yang terjangkau dan tanggal 27 Maret ini akan rilis resmi di pasar Indonesia, entah akan merilis lengkap 3 tipe dari keluarga Nokia X ini atau hanya Nokia X dan Nokia XL. (Silahkan baca postingan sebelumnya di SINI).

Ponsel keluarga Nokia X ini sangat eksklusif karena tidak dibekali dengan OS dari perusahaan induknya yakni Windows Phone (Microsoft) tetapi mengusung OS Android Open Source Project (AOSP) dari Google meskipun desain Android di Nokia X ini mirip dengan Windows Phone. Selain didukung Android smartphone Nokia X didukung aplikasi-aplikasi Microsoft dan Nokia sendiri seperti Skype, HERE Maps, Outlook dan lainnya. Untuk toko aplikasi-nya pun hanya tersedia di Nokia Store bukan di Google Play Store. Versi Android yang digunakan di Nokia X ini pun masih versi Jelly Bean (4.1).

Apple Testing "Related Search Suggestions" Feature On The App Store



Apple saat ini sedang melakukan uji coba fitur "related search suggestion" di App Store di kalangan terbatas untuk pengguna perangkat device dengan iOS 7. Penampakan fitur "related search suggestion" tersebut diposting oleh salah satu developer aplikasi "Time Planner" yang bernama Olga Osadcha di akun twitternya hari ini.

Fitur baru "related search suggestion" akan menunjukan rekomendasi aplikasi atau game sesuai dengan pencarian terakhir di App Store dalam bentuk sub-sub kategori. Sebagai contoh apabila kita melakukan pencarian terhadap "Twitter" akan ditunjukkan halaman download aplikasi "Twitter" plus "related app"-nya yang sesuai seperti: "news app", "traffic app", "photo editor" dan seterusnya.  Keberadaan fitur tersebut akan memudahkan pengunjung Apps Store untuk memilih-milih aplikasi yang sesuai keinginan dan sejenis dengan yang kita cari.

Tumblr Release Two-Factor Authentication Feature



Layanan blogging milik Yahoo! yakni Tumblr merilis fitur baru "Two-Factor Authentication" sebagai settingan security, menjaga keamanan akun Tumblr dari orang lain atau hacker yang berniat menguasai blog kita. Untuk mengatur settingan tersebut dapat melalui Dashboard yang ada di versi web atau versi mobile (iOS dan Android)

Ada 2 hal yang harus diperhatikan untuk fitur "Two-Factor Authentication" yaitu dengan menambahkan nomor telepon pengguna serta adanya kode unik single-use yang dikirimkan ke nomor telepon pengguna dan harus diverifikasi ke akun Tumbr.

Berikut cara setting "Two-Factor Authentication":

- Buka akun Tumblr
- Klik "enable" "Two-Factor Authentication"
- Masukkan no telpon pengguna
- Masukkan password Tumblr
- Klik tombol "Send"
- Masukkan kode SMS yang kita terima
- Ikuti semua petunjuk dan akun Tumblr sudah aman.

27 March 2014, Nokia X Android Phone Release Date In Indonesia



Setelah diperkenalkan di Malaysia dan India minggu lalu kini giliran Indonesia akan diperkenalkan seri smartphone baru Nokia dari keluarga Nokia X (aka Normandy) di akhir bulan Maret ini. Acara Media Launch Nokia bakal digelar tanggal 27 Maret 2014 ini di Jakarta yang akan memperkenalkan Nokia tipe X dan XL yang merupakan debut baru perangkat Nokia yang menggunakan OS Android dan bukan Windows Phone (meskipun tampilan OS ini dimiripkan dengan Windows Phone).


Sebenarnya ponsel Nokia keluarga X tersebut ada 3 tipe yakni X, X+ dan XL tetapi sepertinya hanya X dan XL saja atau hanya Nokia X saja yang akan diperkenalkan sesuai dengan situs Nokia Indonesia yang hanya menampilkan spesifikasi Nokia X dan Nokia XL.

Harga jual Nokia X masih dibanderol di bawah 2 juta, untuk negara Malaysia dipatok sekitar 1,4 juta sedangkan di India sekitar 1,6 juta dan untuk Indonesia kemungkinan sekitar 1,4-16 juta. Nokia X dan XL selain mengusung OS Windows Phone juga memiliki layar ukuran 4 inchi (Nokia X) dan ukuran 5 inchi (Nokia XL).

Untuk warna ponsel, sesuai dengan khas Nokia pada produk varian Lumia dan Asha, kali ini varian Nokia X juga tersedia 6 macam warna hitam, putih, cyan, hijau cerah, oranye dan kuning cerah. Nokia X, X+ dan XL bisa menggunakan 2 sim card (dual sim) dan kamera yang digunakan disesuaikan sesuai tipe-nya, untuk Nokia X dan X+ menggunakan 3MP dengan memori 4 GB, Nokia XL dibekali kamera 5 MP dan memori 4 GB.

Untuk prosesor ketiga tipe Nokia menggunakan  Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 dengan memori 512 GB RAM untuk tipe Nokia X dan memori 768 GB RAM untuk Nokia XL.

Karena Nokia X menggunakan OS Android otomatis aplikasi bisa diunduh dari Play Store (Nokia Store) tetapi untuk aplikasi peta menggunakan milik Nokia sendiri  Here Maps dan untuk musik dilengkapi dengan Nokia Mix Radio.
