Is it cheating? Who cares? This isn’t a relaxing afternoon game of Scrabble we’re talking about. This is Pokémon Go. One day elections will probably be decided by who leads the most gyms, and if you don’t start stockpiling your pocket monsters now, you’ll be a nobody in a few years.
So head over to My Mini Factory where you can download the plans for this Pokeball aimer for free. You’ll just need to supply the 3D printer, and an iPhone 6 since that’s the only smartphone it’s designed to fit.

Twitter announced today it has created an online application process for Twitter accounts to receive verified status. Verified accounts on Twitter allow people to identify key individuals and organizations on Twitter as authentic, and are denoted by a blue badge icon. An account may be verified if it is determined to be of public interest. Typically this includes accounts maintained by public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.
"We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification," said Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter's vice president of User Services. "We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience."
Twitter was the first platform to introduce account verification, starting in 2009 and currently has close to 187,000 verified accounts. The @CDCgov was one of the first Twitter accounts to be verified in order to help citizens find authentic and accurate public health information straight from the source. Among the other first accounts to be verified include @NASAArmstrong, @KimKardashian, @Oprah, @MilwaukeePolice, @SF311, and @TonyHawk.
The application process will start rolling out today and be available globally this week. People can learn more about the application process in the Twitter Help Center. You can submit a request to verify an account by filling out this form, and we’ll respond to your request via email.
Submitting a request:
To be able to complete the form, your account must have the following:
- A verified phone number
- A confirmed email address
- A bio
- A profile photo
- A header photo
- A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization accounts)
- A website
- Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings
Some common characteristics of verified accounts include:
- If the account belongs to a person, the name reflects the real or stage name of the person.
- If the account is a corporation or company account, the name reflects the real name of the corporation or company.
- The profile and/or header photo reflects the person, the corporation’s branding, or the company’s branding.
- If the account is a corporate or company account, the email address associated with the account is a corporate or company email address.
Two photos spotted by Nowhere Else shows the three models side by side. As expected, the iPhone 7 Plus looks like a bigger version of the iPhone 7. And the iPhone 7 Pro could be a more powerful iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus with a regular camera and an iPhone 7 Pro with an improved camera.
You can also spot a smart connector at the back of the iPhone 7 Pro. Apple introduced these magnetic smart connectors with the iPad Pro as a way to expand your devices with accessories, such as keyboards. With the iPhone 7 Pro, Apple might take advantage of this connector for a battery case.
The images in question appear to show a rose gold iPhone 7. They were originally posted to Weibo and then republished by anonymous Twitter user The Malignant. There are four photos in total, and they’re all included below.
If you're a Pokemon GO player living in a metropolitan area, chances are you're surrounded by Pokestops and Gyms. For those in more rural areas, though, stocking up on items by visiting Pokestops or duking it out at Gyms proves to be a little more difficult. That might all be changing soon, as Niantic has given Pokemon GO players the tools to suggest locations that would make for good Pokestops or Gyms.
To suggest a Gym or Pokestop locations, players need to fill out a form on Niantic's Pokemon GO support site. It's there that they'll be asked to give a reason for wanting to add that particular location to the already long list of Pokestops and Gyms, with one of the options being "No Pokestops or Gyms near me." This will be a great help for people who want to play the game but are limited in what they can do because they live in lower population areas.
On the other hand, if you have a Pokestop or Gym located on your personal property, you can also use this form to request that it be removed. Ever since the launch of Pokemon GO, we've heard stories from folks who have discovered that their house is a Gym or Pokestop, with some being more tolerant than others of the inevitable groups of Pokemon trainers showing up on their property. Just as well, if you see a Pokestop or Gym that's in a dangerous location, you can use this form to report it and possibly get it removed. Finally, players can use the form to report stops or Gyms that no longer exist or any issues they're having with Gym battles.
It's great to see Niantic offer up this form to Pokemon GO players, but it would probably be best to temper your expectations, as the company does ultimately have the final say in whether or not Pokestops or Gyms are added to the game. Still, having a resource available to request the removal of locations that shouldn't be flagged in the game will be a welcome relief to homeowners who don't like the fact that Pokemon GO players are visiting their houses in droves.
You can find submission form to make a request right here.
In an effort to promote gender equality, Google has been working with the Unicode Technical Committee to add emoji that “empower young girls” and more accurately reflect the “diversity of women’s careers” as well as “the pivotal roles that women play in the world.”
Yesterday, the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee has agreed to add 11 new professional emoji, in both male and female options and with all the skin tones. That’s more than 100 new emoji to choose from!
Unicode is also adding male and female versions to 33 existing emoji. For example, you'll be able to pick both a female runner emoji and a male runner emoji, or a man or woman getting a haircut.
The new additions will soon be available on Android and other platforms that support emoji.
Pokemon Go is well on its way to taking over the world. That being said, some players find the whole Pokéwalking thing quite a bother. If exploration and exercise aren’t really your thing, there’s always the Pokédrone.
Tech start-up TRNDSLabs has refitted one of its nano-drones to hack the massively-popular game: simply connect via WiFi and the Go app will use the Pokédrone’s GPS and camera, allowing players to fly their way over to those creatures that are just out of reach.
Head on over to TRNDSlab’s website if you’re interested in receiving more info on the device’s availability.
It’ll be interesting to see how long this concept lasts: on the one hand, remote Pokémon-catching may help prevent the car accidents and incidents that have sprung up as a result of the app’s release; on the other, Nintendo and Niantic will almost definitely penalize and bounce users for gaming the system.
An awesome video has emerged of a group of engineers using a drone to play Pokemon Go.
The footage, captured on Sunday in San Diego, CA, USA, shows the men building a drone capable of playing the new augmented reality game.
"Tired of walking around to capture Pokemon, our team of engineers and Pokemon enthusiasts built a quadcopter capable of capturing the little monsters from the Sky," member of the team Radley Angelo wrote online.
"The rig is 100 per cent functional, and we managed to snag three Pokemon from the air," he added.
As well as catching pokémon in their natural habitats, like car parks, churches, and by the trolleys at the supermarket, you can also hatch them from eggs.
First off, you want to get yourself an egg or two, and to do that, you need to visit pokéstops. If you keep getting pokéballs, just persevere.
When you start out you’ll find an egg incubator in your inventory. It has unlimited uses but can only incubate one egg at a time, so if you find that eggs are scarce, it’s not too much of a problem as the incubators are even more so.
You can buy additional incubators in the shop, or receive them as a reward for levelling up. With the exception of the infinite use incubator you start out with, they have three uses before they break. As you start to collect more eggs, you might want to drop some pokécoins on a couple more.
There are three types of eggs, each with an attached distance requirement you have to meet before they hatch – bear in mind that you can’t cheat by driving (unless you’re going at the speed of a milk float), so you’ll need to walk, cycle, or utilise some other form of really slow transportation to travel either 2km, 5km, or 10km to hatch them.
The distance you cover applies to all of eggs that you have incubating, so have as many on the go as you can. You may want to do them in batches of equal distances, or mix and match to have a guaranteed new pokémon every 2km.
The more common pokémon are found in the 2km eggs, with the rarest in the 10km, while the largest variety can be found in the 5km eggs. Be sure to have your app open or you will have wasted all of that time in the fresh air for nothing.
Of course there’s an element of chance involved in what kind of pokémon will come bursting out of an egg, but we’ve sorted them by egg type so you’ve got a better idea of what’s in store.
