BBM Coming to Windows Phone and Nokia X Platforms

Hari ini BlackBerry mengumumkan rencana kehadiran BBM di platform Windows Phone di samping platform lain yang sudah ada sebelumnya yakni BlackBerry, iOS dan Android. Selain platform Windows Phone yang kebanyakan dipakai di perangkat Nokia, BBM juga tersedia di perangkat baru Nokia X yang belum lama diluncurkan. We’ve got exciting news for Windows Phone users this morning – BBM is on its way to you in the coming months!

From the beginning we’ve said that we’re committed to listening to what customers want and you’ve spoken – Windows Phone users want BBM! BBM will also be supported on the newly announced Nokia X platform

In a recent press release John Sims, President, Global Enterprise Solutions at BlackBerry said,

BlackBerry Updates BBM With Stickers, Group Photo Sharing And More

Hari ini BlackBerry merilis versi baru BBM untuk pengguna iOS (iPhone, iPad dan iPod Touch), Android dan Blackberry dengan perubahan cukup signifikan yakni kehadiran "stickers" di BBM shop dan improvement fitur transfer file, foto dan video serta kemudahan picture sharing pada BBM groups.

Fitur stiker sudah dikabarkan beberapa waktu lalu dengan ujicoba di versi beta setalah rilis versi sebelumnya di bulan Februari 2014 lalu yang menambahkan fitur voice calls, channels dan location sharing. Fitur "stickers" baru hadir hari ini di semua versi. Fitur ini menjadi ladang baru BlackBerry mengeruk keuntungan dari pengguna BBM mengikuti beberapa instant messenger lain yang sukses dengan stiker-nya seperti LINE dan WeChat bahkan social network lain seperti Path dan Facebook Chat. Stiker-stiker yang ada di BBM tidaklah gratis tapi dihargai sekitar $1.99 meskipun ada juga yang gratis dan dapat ditemukan di BBM Shop. Setiap sticker pack terdiri dari 20 sampai 25 stiker dan menurut keterangan pihak BlackBerry akan ada stiker dari CosCat, Gilbert's Tales, Bubble Bot, Shaun the Sheep dan WWE

Fitur lain yang diperbaiki antara lain kemudahan dalam berbagi foto, video dan file yang diperbesar ukuran menjadi 16 MB setiap kirim file sehingga foto atau video yang kita kirimkan menjadi lebih baik kualitasnya atau durasi video yang lebih panjang.

Bagi pengguna setia BBM silahkan update atau download aplikasi tersebut langsung dari Apple's App World, Google Play Store atau BlackBerry World.

Earlier, we wrote about some of the features we’re working on for BBM in 2014. Today, we’re excited to be adding those great new features and more to BBM that users on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry** can enjoy. When the update becomes available later today, these new features will give you more ways to chat and share than ever before on BBM. Here are some of the highlights:

BBM Voice

One of the things we’re most excited about is bringing BBM Voice to iPhone and Android users. With BBM Voice you can make free calls* to BBM contacts anywhere in the world using your Wi-Fi® or data connection. When a BBM contact is available for a BBM Voice call you’ll see a green icon in the top right hand corner of your chat. To call them, simply touch the green icon and your call will be connected.

BBM Channels

BBM Channels lets users chat with other BBM users about topics that interest them. Customers can join channels about a range of topics from products, hobbies and sports to entertainment, fashion, cars and more. Channels can be created by brands, businesses and BBM users alike and are a great way to communicate directly and immediately with people who share common interests in the broader BBM community. By posting to their channel, channel owners immediately reach their subscribers with a message that can spark discussions.

Location Sharing powered by Glympse

We’ve all been in situations where we’re running late, meeting up with friends, or trying to find someone at a concert. Location sharing powered by Glympse is a great way to share your live location for a specific amount of time. Choose how long you want to share your location for by setting the timer – when the timer runs out your location is private again. Now you see me…now you don’t!

Pictures, Voice notes, attachments and more

With this new version of BBM there’s more to chat about because you can quickly share a pic, voice note or file with your contacts. Snap a photo or pick one from your gallery; touch and hold to send a voice note; send a calendar event or contact.

Dropbox Integration

With Dropbox built in to BBM, you can send a file from your personal cloud directly to a BBM contact. On the receiving end, save the file directly to your smartphone or add it to your Dropbox account.

New Emoticons

This new release of BBM also includes 100 great new emoticons that you can use to bring some fun to your chats. With so many new emoticons, we’ve decided to dedicate a post to helping you discover them all. Check that out here.

Larger BBM Groups

You’ve been asking for larger BBM Groups and we’ve heard you loud and clear. This new version of BBM now includes 50-person BBM Groups so you can get more of your friends, family or team in on the action.

BBM for BlackBerry OS 10 Update New Version With Sharing Location & More

Another BBM update from BlackBerry today for BlackBerry OS 10 getting update to v.10.3.3.68 with new features and improvements.

Here are the update:

#BBM for Android and iPhone Update: Confirms Not Coming For At Least Another Week.

pihak blackberry ternyata benar-benar tidak siap dengan rencana peluncuran #bbm lintas platform buat perangkat ios dan android, setelah tanggal 21 kemarin menunda-nunda rilis aplikasi resmi bbm for android saat ini bahkan menarik kembali aplikasi resmi bbm for iphone yang sudah diposting di apple apps store, sekarang bahkan ada pernyataan resmi dari head of bbm blackberry (andrew bocking) yang menyatakan aplikasi messenger bbm listas platform tersebut belum tentu rilis resmi minggu minggu ini.

aplikasi bbm for iphone meskipun sudah ditarik dari apple app store tetapi pemilik iphone masih bisa menggunakan aplikasi tersebut buat chatting (meskipun juga masih ada bugs) tetapi masih beruntung dibanding pengguna android yang belum mencicipi aplikasi resmi bbm for android (meskipun pernah beredar di internet versi bocorannya).

andrew bocking sebagai head of bbm bahkan menyalahkan pengguna android yang menggunakan aplikasi non resmi tersebut yang menyebabkan peningkatan pesat jumlah pesan bbm dan membuat sistem bbm jadi bermasalah. seperti kita ketahui, mendekati rilis resmi bbm for android ada sekitar 1,1 juta pengguna android yang mendownload dan menggunakan aplikasi non resmi tersebut dan blackberry tak bisa memblokirnya sampai akhirnya menunda semua peluncuran aplikasi bbm for android maupun iphone.

Hi Android and iPhone users,  This is Andrew Bocking, head of BBM at BlackBerry. As a follow up to our first blog post on Saturday, I want to take a moment to provide you with an update on the rollout of BBM on Android and iPhone.  

Last week, an unreleased, older version of the BBM for Android app was posted on numerous file sharing sites. We were aware of an issue with this unreleased version of the BBM for Android app. This older version resulted in volumes of data traffic orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user and impacted the system in abnormal ways. The version we were planning to release on Saturday addressed these issues, however we could not block users of the unreleased version if we went ahead with the launch.   

We attempted to address the problems caused by the unreleased version throughout the day on Saturday, but as active users of the unreleased app neared a million – and accelerated – it became clear that the only way to address the issue was to pause the rollout for both Android and iPhone.   

The team is now focused on adjusting the system to completely block this unreleased version of the Android app when we go live with the official BBM for Android app. We are also making sure that the system is reinforced to handle this kind of scenario in the future. While this may sound like a simple task – it’s not. This will take some time and I do not anticipate launching this week.

How To Download #BBM App for Android

dari pengumuman resmi blackberry rentang kehadiran bbm for android mengalami menundaan, rencana semula rilis di 21 september tetapi sampai saat ditulis belum rilis di google play store. berbeda dengan aplikasi bbm for iphone yang lancar rilis di app store bahkan sebelum tanggal 22 september. (liat preview bbm for iphone di sini).

saat ini banyak pengguna android yang mendownload file apk (bbm for android) dari sumber unofficial dan dicoba berhasil masuk juga serta dapat digunakan chatting. tetapi bagi yang menginginkan aplikasi official harap bersabar dahulu karena di google play store belum tersedia (saat blog ini ditulis), yang ada sekarang banyak sekali aplikasi sampah yang sebenarnya bukan dari blackberry. biar gak salah download pantengin link google play store yang ada di sini https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=BlackBerry+Limited (saat ini belum ada aplikasi bbm for android, hanya ada 3 aplikasi lain milik blackberry). sedangkan situs lain yang bisa dikunjungi adalan www.BBM.com.

update di tanggal 22 september 2013, selain blackberry menunda rilis bbm for android dengan alasan adanya aplikasi bbm for android unreleased yang sudah dipake lebih dari 1,1 juta user dan mengakibatkan masalah tehnis, blackberry juga menarik kembali aplikasi bbm for iphone yang sebelumnya sudah tersedia di app store. akibat dari penundaan tersebut, pengguna bbm for android sudah tidak dapat mengakses aplikasi bbm tersebut, berbeda dengan pengguna bbm for iphone yang masih bisa menggunakannya sampai saat ini meskipun link download di app store sudah dihapus.

menurut press release blackberry, bbm for android hanya tersedia bagi perangkat dengan os ice cream sandwich dan jelly bean (android 4.x), tetapi kita coba aja dengan os yang lainnya. silahkan tunggu update di sini atau di twitter @tamtomo2 serta nanti akan ditulis preview-nya.

Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.

Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability.

As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone.
